Hodge Podge

It seems that lately all I have are a hodge podge of things to tell you about!

The other day Trey and I got our first snow cone of the summer. We both got gigantic half cake batter and half wedding cake. They were so good, but we only could eat the very top of it. Next time, we will definitely get a small snow cone!
Here is the little stand; Okie Snow!
The other night we tried Papa Murphy's for the first time. I was really impressed with it. We got the Delite crust with veggies. It's really low in points, too!
We watched the movie Conviction while we ate our pizza. It was very good! It was about an innocent man who was wrongly put in jail and his sister goes to law school to become his attorney. I definitely recommend it!
The next night we watched Unknown. I think it was really good, but I don't know for sure because I accidentally fell asleep during the most intense part! Whoops.
On Sunday, we decided to check out the brand new outlet mall here! It was opening weekend AND tax free weekend. Do you know what that means? It was an absolute madhouse. It took us probably 30 minutes to find a parking spot. And that parking "spot" was in the mud.
We had already walked away from our car. It was behind us in this picture.
The outlet mall is super nice. It reminds me of the outlet shops in Round Rock, Texas. Maybe it's the same developer? Anyway, there is a pretty good selection of stores!
We grabbed a bite to eat at the City Bites in the food court. I didn't think to take a pic of my yummy Razzmatazz sandwich until I only had a bite left! It has fat free cream cheese, raspberry vinaigrette, cucumbers, sprouts, and turkey! I need to replicate this at home because it's so healthy.
City Bites has THE best cookies. My favorite is their birthday cookie. This time Trey and I split a red velvet cookie. It was delicious! I love their cookies because they are cake-like.
The only thing I found at the outlets was this adorable necklace from Guess. I am in love with it. After the outlets, we went to Kohl's. I got another pair of Levi's. I also got a cute shirt from Lauren Conrad and some of her slim boot cut black pants. I think these will be perfect for teaching!
Of course, I did some more classroom shopping. Don't you love my too cute clock? I needed a new clock in my classroom and I happened to be at Hobby Lobby where all clocks were half off! I figured this would make me happier when I looked at the clock and I still had a long day ahead of me! :) I also got some more bins, new pointers, baskets, and a marker board and stand for my snack table. And I took advantage of tax free weekend and got folders for my kids' writing folders.
I also got these CUTE rugs at Ross. I wasn't sure about the purple and pink at first. But I think when they are mixed in my classroom they won't read as wild and girly! We'll see! They were way cheap, so I couldn't pass them up!
Look at the cutie! She totally thought I was taking her picture! She was posing! :)
Speaking of little miss Fiona, Saturday was a rough day for her and us! She woke up and was SOOOO sick all day. I was scared to death. She never gets sick. We ended up taking her to a 24 hour animal hospital that night to have her checked out. They couldn't really tell us anything and they were trying to charge us an arm and leg for things they weren't sure she needed. Of course, I would spend anything on her in a heartbeat, but I could tell that she was starting to do better. So, we decided to go home and watch her and if she got worse we'd just head back there. Thankfully, she started acting much better. She didn't eat anything until Sunday and still acted pretty lethargic, but today she is back to her spunky self! Thank God!

This week will be full of lots of classroom preparation and fitting in some last minute summer fun before school starts next week!

When I retired from teaching first grade, I gave away all my stuff (including my own library of over 600 books!) to other teachers, but I kept all of my totes, bins, and organizers. They have been really handy in my pantry and for under the bed storage. Eventually, you'll get so tired of spending money on your classroom you'll quit...that may take 20 years, Ha! Have a great school year!

ROSS is my obsession! Love, love, love Ross! Cute rug. Last time I was there they had a long brown rug with vines and leaves on it. It would have been PERFECT behind my couch. Just when it caught my eye a lady snatched it up. I kind of stalked her to the check out line just to ensure she was actually purchasing it and didn't change her mind. She didn't. :( LOL
