(what a horrible title! Sorry!)
Last week, I hosted a teacher get-together at my house. Of course, I made some yummy food. I made Pioneer Woman's salsa (the BEST ever), poppy seed ham sandwiches, fruit salsa with cinnamon sugar pita chips, no bake cookies, and we had hummus and wheat thins. (All the recipes are on my recipe blog, if you are interested.) I picked up some cute yellow napkins and pink plates. I am OBSESSED with that color combo lately! So pretty! It was a fun get together!
We decided to spontaneously go to the Ikea in Dallas the other day. We didn't leave our house until 4:30 in the afternoon, but we still managed to have time to shop at Ikea and go out to eat before heading home!
A pic of me before we left...
Oh, how I LOVE Ikea. It's like my personal Disneyworld.
Our loot
We ended up eating at La Hacienda Ranch. It's the same place we went to back in December. We, of course, had fajitas. I didn't eat much of them, though, because I had other plans. I couldn't get their Black Bottom Pecan Pie out of my head! So, we had to order it. SOOOO freakin' delicious. I think Trey and I decided it might be the best dessert ever.
Today, I did some shopping for my classroom. I'm in love with this adorable border I got at Mardel's.
Turquoise + Polka Dots + Paisley = Perfect
For the past five years, I've always used a bucket for snack. The snack bucket! But this year I decided to get a reusable bag. They had some adorable ones at Hobby Lobby. I got the zebra!
I also got a set of baskets and a hanging tote. You can never have too many bins!
I also went to Walmart to get a few things. Their folders are on sale for 17 cents, so I got a bunch of them for the kids' take home folders. This year I'll be using yellow ones! I also got a cute notebook for record keeping and lessons plans. Oh, and the lanyard is from Mardel's.
My loot from the dollar spot at Target. Do you notice a color theme going on??? I'm loving turquoise! I got some turquoise baskets, sidewalk chalk, beads, pencils, birthday certificates and stickers, wipes, a book for record keeping, and a whole bunch of dice! I was so excited I found the dice because we are using a new math program that requires a lot of dice!
And, of course, any teacher can't forget about Dollar Tree! I found some more cute turquoise bins, sentence strips, awesome metal letter trays, erasers (my kids last year were obsessed with these), and lots of different stones/beads/marbles. I use these in my dramatic play area, instead of fake food. This way the kids aren't dependent on the food to dictate what they play or create. They can use their imagination completely and create/play whatever they'd like!
I'm going up to my school tomorrow to start setting up my classroom and there will be no air!!! AH! So, I also picked up a box fan to take. I was testing it out and Fiona found it quite pleasurable. I love that little monster.
Oh, and I redesigned my blog! I heart it. Come see!

6 chirps:
PW's salsa is the BEST! I love Ikea. So fun. I could spend forever there!
Hey Amanda... I've been wanting to take a trip to IKEA--never been... I jsut loked it up and it's about 5 hours from where we live in AR. You must live pretty close? Can't wait to see what you got.. ??
Btw, I still need to e-mail you concerning my blog make-over--we've been out of town. But I'm sure you will soon be busy w/ school starting and all... :)
Oooh, I love your classroom stash! Can't wait to stock up for my own room. Have you tried the Pioneer Woman's Pico de Gallo? Heaven!
Cxx
I can't wait to see your room all done!
And I'm kinda getting the feeling your on a turquoise kick :) lol
1. That dessert looks SO good.
2. I love your turqouise theme, your room will be so cute.
3. The idea for the snack bag is genius! I taught kindergarten for 3 years and never used anything, would have helped the kids remember so well!
I was just recently introduced to the magical world of IKEA. I purchased this desk - http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60180036#/40180042/
in the white/birch effect and this chair - http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60180036#/40180042/ in white.
I placed lamps similar to these - http://www.target.com/Crystal-Table-Lamp-Platinum-Shade/dp/B0002I5QMC/ref=sc_qi_detaillink on either side. I'm now infatuated with my new office space!!!
